Any 850x6 Tubes out there???

I know this is a long shot at best but I am trying to find a pair of 850x6 tubes so I can go flying. All the suppliers are out of stock and say they will not have any until at least the end of the year...most likely first part of next year.

Does anyone have a set they are not using, or removed for som AK Bushwheels, or simply don't want? I have the tires, just no tubes. Please help...I don't want to put the 800's on. Email me at [email protected] if you can help...

Thanks,

Darin

It's pretty rare to find 8.50 x 6 tubes anymore, anywhere. Desser Tire said they special ordered a run of this size that they would have in June. Never checked back with them as I found a new set hidden away somewhere else. You might give them a call and check their stock.

When you do find them be prepared to pay a pretty hefty price for them :(

If you need them for the Good Year 26" Tundra, don't be tempted to run 800x6 as you'll experience tire slippage and valve stem seperation resulting in a very flat tire.

I read on supercub.org from Jon B. that a few different IA's recommended just using 8.00x6 tubes and inflating them more. For $40, that tube better be able to expand enough to fill a 8.50.

Chief has em, like Jr said: http://www.chiefaircraft.com/airsec/Aircraft/Tires/McCreary.html

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Chief notified me today that they are on backorder.

these have been on back order for a long time. I was converting my stinson to 8.50x6 this spring. I called all the places in trade a plane and anyone else that I could think of, no luck same story, all on back order. Each place told me a week or two, right.

My AI is covering his plane and it will be down for a year, I got my tires and tubes brand new from him as he did not need them for now.

The story is that the factory that made this tube was in Canada and one day the closed the door and quit doing tubes. All the other manufactures do not make that size, as it is a low volume odd ball.

There are two manufactures trying to make the tube but are having quality issues.

It was hinted that the problem was the old tubes are natural rubber and the new ones are syntheic, I do not know if this is true or not.

Any way, good luck, I hope you have better luck than I did getting the tubes.

You may try the FBOs in your area and you may luck out like I did.

Zane speaks the truth. Twice I was told that this works. I know of a guy who recently installed a set of 8.50s on a Champ (wink, wink). *He* used his old 700/800 tubes with the blessing of the guy who signed off on the 337 for the field approval. Your mileage may vary, of course.

As supercubber stated, though, I'd hesitate before putting these inside the 26" Goodyears. I might *do it* but I'd hesitate frst. ;-)

Sorry. I don't have a clever sig yet.

Possibly on the way from Aircraft Spruce???

I talked to AS today about a set I have on backorder there and they informed me that supposedly a shipment has shipped to them from their supplier. If this is true, I should get a new set of 850 tubes within a week or so. By the way, when I put these on backorder, they told me they had only allocated 4 pair to AS and I was the third person to reserve a set...its possible that they have one set unclaimed??? If you want them, you better hurry.
