Re: Any BackcountyPilots going to Oshkosh, Air Venture?

As it stands right now I am going to do a complete inspection of my experimental this Sun/ Mon, round up stuff. Leaving Jackson Hole very early Friday morning. Pit stop somewhere in SD. If it ain't too hot outside, proceed till it gets hot. Land, fuel up, get a room and plan for a early morning launch and shoot for a Sat AM arrival. My dillema is. Eaa wants my plane front and center in the auto engine conversion line. Zenith Aircraft wants it in the front of their display. The Eaa area is easy access but no one will keep the rug rats from pulling the antennas off. The Zenith site will be manned and some form of sanity should exist there. Since the display area for Zenith is packed into a tight confines with Vans on one side and Velosity on the other ,positioning it will take some doing and crowds will hamper that for sure. To the guys stopping at Driggs on Thurs maybe we can chat so if I end up putting it down you can relay the site to the CAP, I doubt Domino's delivers out in the middle of nowhere.. [-o<

And to Rob.... Yeah ;The noise police have been chasing me for years, but even they enjoy the sound of a small block wound up tight. =D>

Dianne & I will be at Oshkosh starting July 23rd and stay for the week. We are camping on the field with our small camper. We left the Maule at home in AZ for this trip. Cell 520-820-4753. Let us know if you plan a get-together.

My passenger just bailed on me so I'll most likely be flying to Oshkosh on Monday instead of Tuesday

My passenger and my wing man both bailed out. Talk about lame excuses. Nothing pisses me off more than people who tell you they will do something and then cancel at the last minute.

I did not invite these guys. The wing man ask if I would go with him to show him the ropes. Then he has the audacity to ask if I would go with him next year. WTF!

The passenger ask over 6 months ago if he could have the right seat. When he canceled I told him I would never plan another trip with him.

These guys were not maybe's, they said we are committed except for family emergency's. Yea...right.

I've been dealing with flakie SOBs my whole life, I hate it.

Right on! I changed my whole schedule around to suit this friend. I even cancelled my plans to be part of the mass Cessna arival. Got the call yesterday that he decided to hitch a ride with someone that was driving. I just don't understand what the hell he is doing in aviation if he's to cheap to pay half the fuel for a gas guzzling Cessna 172  He even had the balls to ask if I wanted to drive with them to help share their costs. Now that's my idea of fun, 28 hours in a car with a PINHEAD :x

OK I'm done venting.

Re: Any BackcountyPilots going to Oshkosh, Air Venture?

I talked to the FBO at Driggs today, and sure enough their diggin up the runway to make way for a new one. Driggs will be closed for two months, unless your flying a helicopter.
So were diverting to Afton. I talked to the airport manager and they couldn't be happier to host us, with all the facilities you could ever want, even if you weren't camping.
Not that we were going to be left out in the dark, thanks to a generous boarding offer in Jackson Hole from BCP'er "stol".
So we'll be back on track Friday with a tour of Mt. Rushmore. (I hope they get Obama's head carved into the mountain before we get their) #-o
