Any Events in Maine or New England This Fall?

Anybody know of any fly-ins this fall? I see the one on 16 August and the Bowman Field fly-in on 23 August...too early for me. I'll be back in the saddle of the Kitfox by early September. Thanks.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Gadabout Gaddis at the end of September...I'll be there.

Greenville seaplane fly-in. Bad timing. Same weekend as the Brunswick Naval Air Station Air Show.

We should do a mid-October BackcountryPilot.org Fall Colors Fly-in.

11 OCT is the Saturday of Columbus Day weekend.

I fly out of Merrymeeting (08B) in Bowdoinham, ME. It's a decent 1900' grass strip, privately owned, but public use. I can contact the owner and see if he'll let us.

Any takers? Any other ideas?

I get back from Afghanistan on 21 August and then my wife has a pleasant 2 weeks immediately set up for me...we are moving across town. Never tell me I didn't marry a romantic. Wife trumps Greenville, but I will try and hit the Brunswick airshow...I want to see the Cannibal Queen.

Supercub...What did you have in mind? I should be able to retrieve my 'Fox by 15 September, so I'm game for a fly-in anytime after that.

There are several of us up this way with cubs and other bush beaters. I was thinking we could just pick a cool place and have a cookout type thing on a weekend thats convenient. If it isnt too cold maybe campout ?. Just any easy get together, perfect time of year for flying. September/october my favorite flying weather. John meade also has a flyin in wentworth nh this time of year. it is real pretty there, he and father in law have a private strip. Lots of supercub.orgers there. Maybe we could combine guys from this site with them.

Okay, 08B is doable for me. Its about 3 hours from my field (50PA) in NE PA. I can also offer my field which is 3,000 ft turf, camping area, Job Jonny, etc.

Lets do SOMETHING! Theses guys out west are having way to much fun. Time to make them jealous!

I contacted the owner of Merrymeeting and he would like for us to have a fly-in. In fact he just bought a Maule and I'll try to get him into the BCP.org community.

Supercub - Do you know when John Meade is planning his fly-in? If we try to do a fly-in I would like to deconflict it with any other events in the area.

Merrymeeting is not too exotic but is is a nice grass field along Merrymeeting Bay. It's far enough away from any big town to be peaceful yet close enough to Topsham to make a "beer run" easy with a car (8 miles and I would have a car available). The field has a clubhouse with a small kitchen and a bathroom, plenty of tie down space, and room to pitch a tent. Bowdoinham is about 2/3 of a mile walk and they have a little diner that serves up some good food.

If I can get some positive feedback then I'll make an official posting here setting a date for the fly-in.

Any takers?

Sounds good, will talk to joh, so we dont step on his flyin. Maybe we can get together to do his also, only 40 minute flight from here. I will also check to make sure no other competing events.

Rumford

Phil,

Looks like I'll miss another fly-in. Seen pictures from last year and it looked like it was a hell of time. Tell Douton he is allowed to pull his socks down while in shorts. And keep Felconari away from the women, he's thinks he is a real charmer!

Be back at home on Tuesday, my 180 is at Dufaults. Will be doing some flying and fishing during my week off. After that I'll be home in October. Lets do some flying!

I will have the boys have a drink in your honor . We had 54 planes on saturday last year. That was both float and wheels combined. We will hopefully have a good turnout this year. For anyone interested it is on august 16th in rumford maine.Coordinate44* 31' 22.33" N 70*32' 47.88" W. Everyone welcome to campout and have fun.

So what is the story? Have we got a fly in at 08B for the Northeast? I can set one up in NE Pennsylvania for October if not. Any takers?

Sorry this took so long. I just returned from a deployment and life immediately got hectic. That being said, I won't have the time to put together a fly-in next month. I do have an alternate plan for the proposed weekend. It's not grass but it is a great location. Check out:
