Re: Aug 7 Del Norte, CO Breakfast Burrito fly in

Years ago I did a motorcycle trip through the San Louis Valley and admired the area. I'd find myself picking out possible landing sites as I was riding my 2 wheeled beast along Hwy 17. Sadly, I never flew in that area with either my airplane, or my hang glider. I think I need to add that part of the country to my flying bucket list again. There are soooooo many wonderful places to fly and so little time. How about posting some pictures from the gathering when it happens?

Thanks Tom for posting. The 180 is still down, so I don't know if I'll make it. Should have the new engine installed by early Sept and a stop over in Del Norte to say hi will be on the list!

Sorry for the diversion but can anyone tell me if Fred Schotenboer's daughter still runs Monte Vista airport? The spelling could be way off.

Contact, that is a name I have not heard in many years. Fred gave me one of my first airplane rides. His daughter died in an automobile accident 15 years or so ago. All of the local crop dusters are gone as well. Just summer contract guys now.

Flynbeekeeper,

It saddens me to hear that. She seemed very nice. Fred was a great guy to work for. I miss the days of the easy going operations where the boss was more interested in his customers and his pilots than in money. Probably the reason I was such a poor businessman.
