I flew with Leigh just today, as it turns out. Crosswinds at 18 knots! I learned a lot, as I have when I've flown with him before. Today I learned that you can't land if the wind is so strong that you run out of rudder before the airplane lines up with the runway. I knew that already, obviously, but I don't know that I'd ever worked that bit of knowledge so hard before.

I also learned that the mechanics of crosswind landings are the same whether it's 6 knots or 15. I sort of knew that, too, but this blustery day really got it under my skin.
