Any idea exactly where the strip is located? I can't even find it on Google earth.

How about the strip over at Kelso Dunes? It's private, but has anyone landed over there?

Do you still work at the airlines ? I used to have one of your post cards-
with the 120 sq. ft. "executive condo" on the front. I'm flying down to L.A. this weekend to deliver airplane. Could stop by if you'll give the Lat/Long of strip. Remember you used to have a Grumman something. Thanks Bill Reid

I figured out how to find the airstrip info.

Click on Thing's To Do on the home page. Then scroll down to Airstrip and click on More.

Looks like fun!

Hi Bill.

That's funny that you remember those old postcards. That was quite a few years ago. I still sling bags but now I'm at McCarran.

I'll be out there this Saturday, Jan., 17 from about noon to sundown. The weather is supposed to be gorgeous, sunny and 70 degrees with light winds. Would love for you and anybody else to come visit. I'll tell the neighbors not to shoot :-)

The coordinates are 34 59.76, 116 10.90. I'll be monitoring 122.80.

Hope to see ya!
John

You've never lived until you stop at "Ludlow International and hair care center" Tasty freeze in "airport terminal"200 yards from hanger/runway.
In the middle of summer it's a refreshing treat . Sandwich (fast food)
stuff there too . Been there done that.

I copied and pasted those coordinates into Google Earth. It looks like you have a lovely rice paddy outside of Jinxiang, China! -116 worked though. :D

How big is the ranch?

Hi Kevbert.

I checked the coordinates again and they should be correct. I've had problems with Google Earth in the past with coordinates. Either that or I'm missing something very obvious...

The ranch is 40 acres.

What part of Southeast Washington do you live? I grew up in Southwest Washington.

Longitude is the number of degrees from Greenwich, England. If you don't specify E or W, then positive degrees is east and negative degrees is west. So +116 is in China, and -116 is in CA.

I grew up in Pomeroy, WA, the only town in Garfield county, and the only county in the state without a stoplight. Population of the entire county is about 2300. The nearest public airport is Lewiston, ID, where I tie down my 172. I really like the dry weather and the low population, plus it's only an hour flight down to McCall for getting into the backcountry. Unfortunately, my finances were decimated in recent months, and I'm in the process of moving to Seattle to try to find some decent paying work. I've been on the wet side now for a couple of weeks, and it's always gloomy and raining or heavy overcast and so your ranch looks like heaven to me!

Stopped at Johns' place today. Had a nice visit and the wx was perfect. Looks like a fun place to decompress for a few days and I plan on a camp trip there soon.

Thanx John!

Hey Dlhanst.

The pleasure was mine having you guys fly-in in your shining C-185. I'll be posting your picture on the website soon.

There were not any more fly-in visitors after you left but a couple of wheelers past through the area.

A really good looking white Jeep with a blue hardtop stopped by the T&T Railroad line for a while but they didn't come my way. I think when folks see me and my Taco out there, safety overtakes their curiosity and they keep on moving :)

Look forward to seeing you the next time!

Anybody going to be at the Bacon Strip Ranch this weekend?

I may drive out there on Sunday (2-15) to check it out, if the weather isn't too crappy.
