Unfortunately, I can't come out to my own ranch tomorrow because of stupid day job obligations (this sour economy). But anyone else will have the place to themselves. Just expect a few rouge unannounced fly-in or drive-in visitors since it's Presidents Day weekend :D

Re: Bacon Strip Ranch

Looks like fun! What is it, about 70 - 75 miles from Jean to BSR? I won't be around this year, but I'm seriously thinking about moving to LV, so maybe next year!

I know your website says there are no rules, but after thinking it over, I think there should be one rule: The two fastest finishers must have cheated, and so they are automatically disqualified and the third place finisher is the winner. That will make everyone feel better about not owning a Citation X!

You can find coordinates and read all about fly-in procedures on this page: http://www.baconstripranch.com/Airstrip.htm

There are target frames but don't forget to bring in your paper targets.

Re: Bacon Strip Ranch

There is a new website for the Bacon Strip which is http://www.BaconStrip.net. It's pretty basic. The best way to follow us is on our Facebook page. Search Bacon Strip and become a friend.

Re: Bacon Strip Ranch

The fourth annual Rally will be Saturday, October 9, 2010. This year it's more of a fly-in than a race with a bunch of people enjoying the desert either for the day or camping out for the weekend. We're planning on doing some grilling, shooting, ATV riding, RC airplane flying, relaxing under the shade, and a lot of nothing. If you do plan on camping overnight you'll need to bring some kind of tie-down. Hope to see many of you there!

Re: Bacon Strip Ranch

Anyone know if the Bacon Strip is still open and available to use? It looks like the website as well as the fb page are no longer active.

If I put in the lat/lon right it appears the strip is on state land that just east of a couple private plots owned by possibly the baconstrip guy, a pilot with valid medical with the same name and same address as the parcel per the airmen registry, maybe someone can see if that name comes up on Facebook?

He has/had a number listed (702) 275-9112, and a P.O. Box 777623, Henderson, NV 89077-7623

Re: Bacon Strip Ranch

A guy from Fallbrook Ca bought the Bacon Strip from John Bacon a few years back. If it's not wet it's still landable. prolly 6 mos since I've been in there.

Re: Bacon Strip Ranch

Pretty sure it's still "open" - additionally, the lakebed landing area is public land.

They held their annual fly-in in October 2024.
