Another reason I went with the Sporty's SP-400. (Though I do like their new one, also. Slightly smaller, and even simpler since it doesn't have the "oh-so-useful" VOR NAV capability...

But in fairness, the SP-400's "NAV" capability is better than my non-working KX-170B's NAV capability!

On the radio interference subject, I was re-reading the chart supplement for Merrill and noticed this:

It isn't just forking over the money for a new radio. Also the install. Easily close to $1000 up here over the cost of the radio to get it installed. I swapped out my KX 170B and the non working narco mx 12 in 15 min with two new slide in TKM's (Narco power supply gets removed). Work perfect, no issues. Great after sale service also. These are the fourth radios I have bought from them with next to zero issue. One had an led display quit on the Nav side.

Something to consider, especially if you want to keep your nav side
