Best Way to Sell a Share?

About 5 years ago I bought a 1/5 share in J. F. Kennedy Jr's old 182 - N529JK. It is a straight leg 182 with the Texas Skyways 0-520 280 hp engine and full IFR panel with a Garmin 430 WAAS GPS. It was (and is) a good plane. Unfortunately, this darned website got me all hot and bothered over back country flying, so I went out and bought the Maule of my dreams before I sold my share in the 182. I had my share in the 182 advertised for sale on the AOPA Aircraft Partnership boards and got some nibbles, but no sale. I also put flyers up on bulletin boards in local airports. Still no joy. Any advice on the best way to advertise and sell a share in a plane now that AOPA shut down their aircraft partnership bulletin board? The plane is based at KRMN in Northern Virginia.

Re: Best Way to Sell a Share?

I sold a 1/5th share in a Cherokee 180 by offering it to the other 4 owners at the same price I paid for it. I had gotten the share from a former partner at a bargain price. 2 were interested and one showed up on my doorstep with a check that day. I was lucky hadn't paid too much for my share as the plane was located in a small town in Eastern Oregon and my Job was transferring me out of the area.

PS, my old forest econ prof had a saying, "Sunk costs are sunk".

Re: Best Way to Sell a Share?

Years ago I bought a share in a 182 thru a news paper add. When I sold it one of the partners bought my share. Years ago I was told a partnership is 2-4 people 5 or more is a club. Barnstormers is free but asks for a "donation" if you sell.

Up the insurance to the max they will go. Then haul some leaky cans of gas. Go investigate the source of the smell while smoking a cigarette. [-X

Re: Best Way to Sell a Share?

I considered buying into a C182 this summer from an ad I found on CRAIGSLIST. Barnstormers / trade-a-plane are also good.

One of the owners preferred keeping it on pavement, so we werent a good fit.

It should be a sin not to land on dirt/grass/sand/etc/etc!
