Black foam interior

I see quit a few 180's and 182 with the interior striped out and black foam glued to the interior of the cockpit. Does anyone know what foam is being used?

Re: Black foam interior

I used this:

https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/supersoundproofsheet.php

It’s 3/4” foam. It took a few long days, but I measured, cut and glued to just about every interior surface. I put it under the interior panels. I don’t think it would hold up too well exposed.

Re: Black foam interior

Selkirk has precut foam or you can get sheets and cut it yourself. 1/2 in works great,1/4 is much harder to work with.https://backcountrypilot.org/forum/one- ... ject-18544

I would not stick anything directly on the interior skins. After 30 years, your future owner will feel the same.

Re: Black foam interior

I used the adhesive backed stuff form AC spruce as well. I went with 3/8" on my 206. I left it all exposed and its been holding up quite well. I sprayed 3M super 77 glue on the panels to give the adhesive backing a bit extra to hold on to.

Re: Black foam interior

Thank you all. My plane already has something installed and I'm trying to find material to repair a couple spots. I'll order some samples and see if I can find a match.
