Does anyone know if a Black Mac which has come off a C206 Cont IO520 would work on a Lyc IO540 at the front of a Bearhawk I am currently building

It won't fit. Continentals and Lycomings have different prop bolt patterns. Also, I would strongly recommend staying with a prop/engine combination that has been harmonically tested. There is a 86" two blade Mac that is used on some 540s. That's the prop I'd use if it fits your engine model.

I had a 3-blade Hartzel on an O-540 BH, and the A/C was nose heavy, even w 50# in the aft baggage. Couldn't get the nose up enough to 3-point w full flaps unless I had people in the back. I suspect an IO-540 would be more so unless you went w a MT 3-blade.
