For me it's not the craft, it's the voyage: Round the world. Hopefully in something that will burn JetA.

I could go for that but in the mean time, I need to get down to Florida(Adventure Seaplanes) and get Brian to line me up for a ride in an Air Cam---I think that'd be pretty cool.

Re: Bucket list to fly ?

I'd be plenty happy low and slow in a Scout all over the U.S. following the highways I've travelled in the rig and follow main rivers from the head waters to where they end.

Without a doubt, New Zealand would be #1.

Of course, an AK trip is on the bucket list.

DC3, Corsair F4U, Beaver, Luscombe Phantom. Notice the reoccurring theme...round engine.

F-14 Tomcat is on the list but that is just a pipe dream.

I'm simple. C-180, super cub. After I accomplish those, I will re-evaluate.

Re: Bucket list to fly ?

I'd like to fly the original SFO to LGA airmail route in anything.
I'd like to fly to the Bahamas.
I'd absolutely love to fly this:

And retrace the original carnauba wax expedition.
I'd love to fly anything in Africa.
I'd love to fly anything in Southeast Asia. Though a lot of my friends have flown there and didn't find it too welcoming. But that was a long time ago. Maybe Thailand?

Re: Bucket list to fly ?

A DC3 anywhere. Floats in Alaska. Pilatus Porter somewhere in the third world. A wicked ride in a F-18 or something like that. Hand fly a 727.
A round the world trip in anything. King Air 350.

Re: Bucket list to fly ?

I've flown a staggerwing--great airplane in lots of ways, but uncommonly disproportionate controls, heavy in both roll and pitch and incredibly light in yaw. It would take awhile to get used to, but I only had the one flight.

Years ago I slobbered at the opportunity to fly lots of different airplanes, but now I'm really satisfied just to be able to fly my P172D. I'm coming up on being owned by her for almost 10 years, we have a really great relationship, and I enjoy almost every flight.

I'd like to have her take me to Alaska, mostly to see the country I've driven through on the Alaska Highway and to see what changes have happened since I left Anchorage almost 41 years ago. I'd like to drive by the house we built and see if it's really as ugly in person as it appears in Google Earth--some fool decided that the natural looking stain we'd put on it when we built it should be painted battleship gray, including the shake shingle trim. I'd like to see if Chilkoot Charlie's is still there, along with True Alaska Jewelry, and some of the other places we visited from time to time. Heck, I'd even like to go visit the Fort Rich airstrip where I soloed.

Re: Bucket list to fly ?

A trio of 'over landers' : Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, west coast southbound, east coast northbound - with plenty of rest time.

UK to New Zealand, probably container the aircraft back.

London to Cape Town, and back.

My no gyros, no electrics Super Cub would be my preferred aircraft, alternatively a light IFR C-170B or A, to remain in the spirit of BCP.

Through my maintenance shop I am one degree of separation from an academic who regularly takes his C-210 on RTW jaunts, including Chile to New Zealand via Easter Island.

Re: Bucket list to fly ?

Grumman Albatross through Lake Tahoe, Sherpa K650T hunting in Alaska (bring friends, take home big kills), Bell 206 or UH-1Y commuting in the big cities, MD600 for the same or sight seeing fun, Carbon Cub or SuperSTOL for backcountry jumps, Mosquito for some back yard practice and cheap thrills, Beechcraft King Air for long distance pavement to pavement visits to family across the US....

I'm either going to have to be a billionaire or have a lot of good friends.... and CFIs... I'm glad I'm still a student so I don't have to narrow down my missions yet.
