Ok not exactly a bush-plane but we can all appreciate something as beautiful as this baby:

It's a sad tale of a wonderful project that never saw completion thanks to WW2. Thankfully it seems a group of enthusiasts in the US are building a working replica which will be powered by two Suzuki Hayabusa engines (Bugatti originals are a little pricey apparently). More info on their website:

Now that is a stunning looking machine! I'd feel a little nervous sitting between those driveshafts though....

I seem to recall that a few years back some gentleman from the U S, bought it fromacross the pond just for the engines, gave the rest to the EAA Museum.

Gorgeous airplane, but looking at it I would guess it has an awful-wicked tip stall. Real short on the tail moment too.

The original is in the EAA museum at Oshkosh. The folks building the replica took lots of measurements off of the static museum piece. It's well worth the price of admission if you are ever in the area.

Well I've been so taken with this beautiful old bird that I've decided to back the project via their donations page here:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/525 ... inally-fly It's a hell of a project and I'm glad that there's still people in the world willing to take-on such tasks. Without people like that the world would be a very boring and stagnate place to live. I wish them the very best of luck

I have been enamored with this airplane since the EAA received the original.... Have been following the progress of the replica since its inception in 2009.... Latest picture on the Facebook site shows her with tail surfaces covered, gear box installed and props in place... The lines of the aircraft are just beautiful... It's a work of art.... Looking forward to seeing it fly...
