Anyone weathered in?

well its clear calm and unlimited here but -38 Im still wating on my prop so cant fly anyhow. hope it gets this -40 stuff out its system before long.

Have been for a week now. It's easier to use snowshoes to feed the horse and stuff than to not wear them, and I'm down in the valley.

Know the feeling from past years.........

They will bleed down by themselves if u leave them up over time. Which is what happened here. When I left for Hawaii they were up. 2 months later when I came back they were down Trying to think of an intellegent reason Oh I know less snow on wing =less weight.....aaaahh no that don't work . No excuse Had control locks on the cessnas and tail of the bevs.....don't know why never thought of the bev flaps.

Beaver flaps are hydraulically actuated. Some are tighter systems than others, but many will bleed down if left parked for some time.

Weathered in?? Yea, like about 5,000 people out at SeaTac Airport!! I had a flight out on Alaska Airlines on the 21st and after standing for two hours in what looked like a 5 hour check-in line they mercifully told us that ALL Alaska flights were cancelled for the remainder of the day and to go home! I got off easy, I got to go home. There are still people out there who have been airport camping (not the kind we like .... ) since Friday!

The big fly in the ointment was Alaska ran completely out of deicing fluid. Their resupply trucks were stuck in snow up at I-90 Snoqualmie pass. Hmmm....... lets see, major international airport......major deep freeze forcasted.......ran out of deicing fluid.

No wonder the private jet market is still doing well.

Here in northern MN, we've been weathered in for about 6 weeks. If it hasn't been snowin and blowing, its been -30 degrees. I haven't seen an aircraft flying in at least a month. Cabin feaver is setting in early.

People do the darned things. Some fool will always need us. Heck I'm even foolish at times. I'll bet most big cities have had fires in one of the fire stations.

Yep, one of a dozen or more I have had the pleasure of wheeling over the last 28 years. They just keep making them more comfortable and more HP.

I'm at a slow station so we get the hand me down rigs. Still a far cry from the 1970 vintage I started on.

Flew with a student at 8 AM doing a stage check. 1.6 hours. Started at -18 F and 10 knots of wind. Finished at about -12, so I flew my airplane round the patch a few times, just to wish her a Merry Christmas.
