Ok - so I got a nice ride in a 2006 MX7-180c this morning and I understand the cabin width is 42".. it seemed more cramped than my 59 C182 that is suppose to have the 42" cabin width also.
Searched/explored - not understanding what I am missing?
We are searching for our next plane and yes a Maule is high on the list.

I suspect it's determined a lot by where the measurement is made (floor, elbow, shoulder, head), and whether you're measuring outside width or inside width. But heck, if you're comfortable, what's the difference?

29singlespeed - I told you you have to get to the end of the line. I don't need competition for the planes I'm looking for!
jaudette, are you giving rides? Can I get one?

You have a plane to sell.. it's not a competition..
Overall the Maule is a lot smaller inside, didnt think I would notice it much - but I did!

I had about 60 hours in a Cessna 182Q in 2006 and I have over 900 hours in my Maule.
The 182 seats can go WAY back so long legs aren't a problem. Organizers are sold that fit between the pilot and copilot seats in the 182 so at the seat level, there is quite a difference in room.
In my Maule, MX7-180C, if like me, you aren't very supple anymore, have your copilot get in first because the close seats are a great excuse to bury your nose in their bosom.

For me it was the shoulder space and yoke to door space. Anyhow, was just curiosity as the 42" number is out there as the cabin widths.. Cozier in the Maule.
Safe to say I like both the Maules and Cessnas - so this is not a maule vs cessna discussion.. just asking a numbers point of view.

Hey, what about me? I'm in the line too for a Maule. Me first.
29singlespeed- I'm looking at a Maule for its easy bike loading capability. We should get one and go riding some place.
I just returned from a riding trip to Hurricane, UT. I would much prefer a 2 hour flight over the 6 hour drive any day!

Sure thing, next time I am in G-town.. i actually live in Phoenix now, I see my profile still says Moab. Owned a 59' 182 with extended baggage when I live in MOab - I could load 2 bikes (wheels off) and still have the backseat for the dog in it. Maules, 182's and 205's are all in the list for bike haulers.
