CAD File for Skywagon panel

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

CAD File for Skywagon panel

Looking to make new instrument panels for my 180k. Rather than reinvent the wheel. Does anyone have .dwg or .dxf files for the right and left instrument panels. Will cnc cut new ones. Installing G5’s and EDM 900.

Re: CAD File

I would love the same thing for a 1977 wagon that we installed two G5’s in. If anyone has a lime on blanks for a 185 that would be great.

Someone must. I made one for the Bearhawk. Years ago a guy sent me a tracing for the 170 panel. If I had a 180, I'd probably have generated one for the knowledge base by now.

If I cannot get the drawings I will have to generate myself. Was hoping to have new blank ready before I took dash apart. But maybe no. Used to do that work in a previous life. Interested in the shape and mounting holes for panel. The placement of instruments is the easy part.

Also planning to install a Trio autopilot at same time. The price is right and seems more functional than the traditional suppliers. STC is available for 180’s now.

Re: CAD File

I uploaded a zip file into the references tab in the 180/185 knowledge database. There are two dxf files (pilot and co). Of note, these are in a Cyclone 185, so they should be the same dimensions but use at your own risk.

Re: CAD File for Skywagon panel

How many different variants of panel dimension were there over the years? The early years of the Skywagon are smaller/shorter than later years, right?

Re: CAD File for Skywagon panel

I put this one together for the purpose of avoiding interference with the yoke support brace and my instruments. Hand cutting and fitting with a digital approximation was my actual approach.

I cut the panel out by hand because I wanted some shop time instead of computer time. It fits a 67 180H. I'm not sure what other Skywagons it will fit.

For it to be useful, I would need to pull out my installed panel, which fits perfectly, measure and capture the attachment points and actual contours for an accurate digital model. I would be willing to do that if there was a decent demand.

Got the files. They should save me some time. I will cut some test blanks to prove out on cnc. Mounting holes missing so I will add to the model.

Thanks for the files.

Re: CAD File for Skywagon panel

no problem. I left the mounting holes off because I hand drilled to match the locations. Since mine is home-built, I doubt they'd do you any good anyways.

Got your private message but have no clue how to respond to it. I find Tapatalk difficult at best.

Yes I have lots of fire wall photos. Replaced engine last summer and fixed cracks and wrinkles in firewall I found. Will attempt to attach some photos. If someone could explain how to reply or just give me a email address.

How about some more pics and info on your bird in another thread? Did you build your Cyclone yourself? Seems like an interesting prospect, a home/kit built Cessna...

Re: CAD File for Skywagon panel

Anyone happen to have a CAD file for an early (1953) panel overlay? This is the curved style, overlay not the actual inner panel that the instruments mount in.

Re: CAD File for Skywagon panel

Checking in to see what you ended up with. I have a 180k and will be CNCing an new panel. I will be using FreeCAD but would like to start with a file that someone else has been successful with. Do you or does anyone else have a file to share?
Thanks
