good times out there last night with the supermoon and copious amounts beverages -- man my head hurts. Nice work on Rob getting in 'late' and landing perfectly.

Re: Caveman Fly In 2012

Wow... made it back at 12:30 580 miles with a 35 mPH tail wind going on Thurs and a 25 MPH tail wind coming home... Doesn't happen that often but is sure sweet... didn't know My Maule would be able to see 160 MPH ground speeds... left at 6:20 AM this morning after coffee with two stops... Valle and Havasu City..... Thanks so much to Rod Paula and Hunter for a great weekend.. what a fabulous place ... sleeping in a cave is great... can't hear a thing going on outside  .. hopefully next time we'll have 3 full days of no wind and better flying although what we did have was great....

It is nice to see all the people we met down at Caveman checking in and letting everyone know they made it home safely. Great location, great people and a great time. Rita and I enjoyed meeting you all. See you at JC 2012.

Great fly in. Great hosts and hosteses. It was nice to put the names to the faces, especially OregonMaul, thought he was the pig. Terrific group, everyone lending a hand when needed, I'm proud to be a part of it.

Back to Albuquerque in 2 hrs 57 min in my 100HP Rans S7.

Enjoyed the shows put on by Pops, Swingle and Blue. Hope to make it to JC.

Re: Caveman Fly In 2012

Finally home!!! Left this morning around 9am with a fuel stop in Huntington. No tailwinds for us! But they did let up once we got around Provo. Then, with home in sight, approach tells us that OGD is closed due to a 310 that forgot to put his gear down while doing pattern work. So, landed at Bountiful and were stuck there for the next 5 hours. No pilot lounge, no bathrooms, no courtesy car, no water, etc. Not a big fan of BTF now. Luckily the Papa Johns guy delivered and there was a church across the street for a bathroom. The kids were good and took it well. Finally, at 1530, they got the runway cleared. We found out about it at 4pm and hurried up the road.

Thanks to Rod, Paula, Hunter, Johnny, and Gary for another outstanding fly-in! It was so good to see so many planes there and to meet so many new people. Hope everyone made it home safe. Pics and video to come in the days/weeks ahead.

My http://the-adam.com/stuff/htm/moab2012a.html week in Moab was terrific and Caveman Ranch and Mack Mesa made it Ever-So-Much-More-So. I had light headwinds Saturday for my flight back to Phoenix Deer Valley (DVT). Look Image at all them airplanes down there!

I had a wonderful time and it was so great to reunite with so many people Kevin and I have met in Idaho. Kevin finally returned home tonight and said he spoke to some people from the flyin when he was at 45000 en route to San Francisco.

I hope to see everyone in Idaho somewhere this summer---will be venturing around!

Planning on a 0930 departure.. I think the weather enroute will determine if we spend the day at Mack or Caveman (either way, we'll go to Mack for the BBQ)... More bumpy = less fun flying so if it's bumpy then we'll just keep the load and hang out at Mack then go to Caveman after the BBQ..

Regardless of the wind, we'll have a GREAT time!

Fly safe everyone! Canyons and wind make for some scary shiznit!

Re: Caveman Fly In 2012

Made it back home to SNY about 7:30PM after a stop in Glenwood Springs to see Garry (who didn't make it over the "Hill" from GXY). Mel & Mike made it back to GXY with only a stop at Mexican Mountain (they were going to do Cedar Mountain and Hidden Splendor) but had generater problems. Good to see everyone even though I drove.
Many thanks to Paula, Rod, Hunter & Johnny for theis hospitality..and to Gary ( finally got to finish off one of his Margaritas)!

Re: Caveman Fly In 2012

Too much fun

Thanks to Rod, Paula, Hunter, Johnny, and all those that put the effort in to coming to this great place.
Tom Lawler won the poker run with an ace high straight. I think it was around $500. Donated it back to Rod and family for their efforts to put on this event. Very generous classy act Tom. His plane will be on next years shirt. I was hopin to win and get my truck on next years shirt  But I am glad Tom won.

They did an amazing job on this years shirt with Cory/Dee's plane on it. If someone can, post a picture of the shirt showing the details they put into these shirt, that'd be cool.

OrygunMaule..Thanks for runnin me around in the Maule. Made it a great day for me.

To the folks that bought breakfasts and that donated into my jug to help me get back into the air, thankyou very much. I greatly appreciate it.

Cya next year, or maybe sooner when I get back in the air

It was an awesome weekend with an awesome group of friends! Many thanks to Rod, Paula, Hunter, Johnny and Gary for all their hard work to make it a great weekend of fun and flying. Sorry I ended up being 'in charge' of the weather all weekend ("windy" ). Hope to see everyone back at Caveman Ranch again next year or at one of the fly-ins in the meantime. :D :D :D

Re: Caveman Fly In 2012

Well I had a shit-ton o' fun, too! Thanks so much to Blu for hauling me around on Saturday - and to Gary for putting this all together - and to Rod and Hunter for hosting. Next year I hope to be flying in something of my own.

I met a bunch of cool folks.
