Cessna 140 V-Brace

Folks, I am trying to source a Seaplane V-Brace for my 1946 Cessna 140. I did spot some posts here on BCP from 2012/13 identifying a gentleman by the name of Michael Sibley in Kenai, AK who produced a V-Brace for a C150 that fitted a 140, but the email address listed in the posts doesn't appear to work.

Anyone got any hints on whether these are still produced, and current contact details?

All the best for the Festive Season. Happy flying to all.

Re: Cessna 140 V-Brace

I don't know the specific structural requirements for the 140 but it's worth noting that while many 170's sport a v-brace it is actually not identified as a component of the float kit. I believe it first appears in the Big Brother 180 but he didn't get the sexy round tail.

Re: Cessna 140 V-Brace

That’s correct, the 170 had no V brace on equipment list. A couple of folks have made them, however. Mine came from the guy on the Kenai.

It might be worth contacting Atlee Dodge in Anchorage. They used to have V Braces available for a few Cessna models.

Re: Cessna 140 V-Brace

I actually got a hold of Mike Sibley two weeks ago about the same thing. His v-brace for the 150 also fits the 120/140. His design is a little better since it ties into the top center motor mount. You will however have to cut the glairshield to get to it. When I last talked to him he was going to get back to me about making it out of stainless instead of standard steel. I've got a few other 120/140 owners interested. His price is really good too.

If you want his info or want to try to work a deal with our group PM me and I can put you in touch.

Do you have any photos of the install?
