Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

I'd love to see this as well... The salesman at Valdez has me on the hook and the wife even said yes...

I know of some 429 inch BW for sale. Little use. He is putting his plane on floats. Only has 12 hours on them

Here they are on my Maule. Should look the same on the 170. The to planes are about the same size.

Cheers...Rob

Re: Cessna 170 29x10 Wheels

Here are a couple of pictures of my neighbor's C185 on 29" ABWs. I used to fly my C170B on 8.50x10 Gar Aeros and it did great.

Taking off from the Nizina airstrip.

Re: Cessna 170 29x10 Wheels

i was figuring the air hawks because at our airport, they dont allow intersection t/offs so it would be alot of taxing on bushwheels, and we only land off pavement 40-50% of the time.

I think your making the right choice. I know some will disagree. I would buy 31s but I don't need them. Do I want them, hell yes! I'll bet 50-70% of the planes sitting on real BW don't need them.

Good day

I should be able to show some pics in the next couple weeks. I already own the wheels, and hope to own the plane by next Monday. When I get a spare moment I'll put them together and will shoot some photos. :)

The Cessna spring gear will not let the bushweels achieve a very long life span at all if you fly off of pavement with low pressures. Look at the WMA 185 that Nizina posted and you will see why. Always landing on one wheel, and limited taxing will help, but... The Airhawks are the same size and compound, although less plies, than the exact tire that comes on Thrushes and Air Tractors running ramp weights of 10,000 pounds... So should wear just fine. Don't even think about putting the 10 ply version on a light airplane #-o ...

Take care, Rob

Re: Cessna 170 29x10 Wheels

Tom, I was supposed to pick it up this weekend, but looks like the wonderful wx we've been having this spring in New England will prevent that. So, there is a slight chance I'll be able to go to Hampton, but not likely. PM me in a couple weeks, and maybe we can connect somewhere in between and you can get a first hand look. :) Sam

Re: Cessna 170 29x10 Wheels

At least with a C180, the 29x11x10 BW's on 10" Gar-Aero's are NOT very asphalt friendly...Grabby SOB's at gross weight!
