Cessna 180 cowling gill vents

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Eric, please keep this thread up to date when they get back to you. For something so useful, these louvers are sure elusive.

The answer from the Skywagon Club is that there are "paperwork issues" and that they are working on it. Doesn't seem to be high priority.

How many of you have gotten field approvals?

I am installing them, irregardless.

Just got off of the phone with Skywagon City. The don't have new ones and don't know when they will get them. Used ones are $390 US.

Just bought a set for $185 from a guy on Skywaggons.org. Appear to be well made. He may have a couple more sets. [email protected].

That’s what I did, plus the $5 STC docs from Skywagon club. Evened out cht’s on my old 470, and cht’s in the new PPonk seem fine.
Putting on our cargo pod a few years back definitely changed cooling pattern of the cylinders, which is why we went to the louvers.

I don’t see the louver STC on the resource page?

Eddie,

Interesting that you ask. We discussed that at the board meeting. The guy that held the STC left it to the club in his will. There are some issues that I don't fully understand but we are working on it. I will copy Bo on this and see if I can help you get some clarification.

Eric

This is a post from earlier in this discussion which indicates that the STC is tied up in somebody's estate. Which means it could take a long time to get sorted out, if it ever does.
