Cessna 182 vs 205

This comparison was an eye opener of how similar this planes are, the advantages of the 205 are being able to carry more people and weight, plus a stronger nose gear, its a great plane for the backcountry.

1) What strip is that? Looks very nice.
2) What STOL cuff on the 205.
No fences on too so I'll guess its a Sportsman.
Interesting fences at the outboard end of the cuff,
I assume to allow proper fitment of non-cuffed wingtips?

Re: Cessna 182 vs 205

The strip looked familiar is why I asked.
I think I know where it is, south of Majerle's old strip, right at a bend in the river.
It used a have a twin parked on it.

Does that C205 belong to "Piper Painter" ?
Maybe he can pipe in with info on the STOL cuff.

I google-mapped that strip-- yup, that's the one I thought it was. Looks like a single engine Cessna parked on it now.
I think if I owned it, I'd take down the trees across from the hangar, but otherwise it looks pretty wide open.
Unfortunately, like every place else in that valley, I bet it floods pretty regularly.

Re: Cessna 182 vs 205

A shootout between an early 182A or B with variable incidence tailplane trim would be interesting. The fact that the 182P had a similar empty weight as the 205 was a good fact from the video. As always very nicely produced videos.

Could say the same about a P model 182, I doubt there many that actually weught in at 1750. I work on a few that are all around 1870.
It can be done though, my 206 is 1846.

My 182 weights 1740 pounds,I added some avionics and STOL kit , but also replaced seats with Atlee Dodge seats, MT prop, small alternator, small MT Prop governor, lightweight carpet, removed sound proofing.

Re: Cessna 182 vs 205

Earlier airplanes were generally lighter airplanes. Especially Cessnas...
