Cessna 182A on wheels with a 88" sea plane prop.
Lycoming, Continental, Hartzell, McCauley, or any broad spectrum drive system component used on multiple type.
Anyone running or know if you can run a Cessna 182A on wheels with a 88" sea plane prop? I have an airglass fork and an 8.00X6 on the nose. I have an 88" sea plane prop with a bit of tip damage. My choices are, repair the damage, cut off the damaged 1/2", or cut the prop down to the stock 82". Thoughts?

Physically it would work I believe, unfortunately (I'd love to be wrong about this) I know of no STC for any 182 that allows that model prop to be installed with 88" blades. Northpoint Aviation
https://northpointaviation.net/northpoint-xp470/ has an STC to allow the installation of an 86" Hartzell on Pponk/Northpoint equipped 182 that have the Airglas nose fork and a certain sized nose tire. Would definitely be worth a call to see if they know of any options.

McCauley list SA01033CH for the 182A. The STC allows the installation of the 2A34C203/90DCA-X. It also says it amends the TCDS. Since the dash number after the 90CDA specifies the length of the blade, it seems to say you can put any length of blade of the plane up to the native 90" of the forgings. You would still need to meet CAR 3 clearance requirements of 7" nominal and clearance with a flat tire. Having said all that, I'm not sure it a good idea. You might end up with prop damage all the time.
