I've had the Saf-T-Stops on both front seats of my airplane--previous owner had put them on there--but my IA insisted on putting a crossbar on the pilot seat that restricted the movement, which made it really inconvenient. Just a few months ago, I had the Cessna "fix", which is a retracting reel similar to a seat belt inertia reel, installed. It's not actually an inertia reel--it is unlocked by pulling up the standard seat unlock lever, which is now connected to both the pin that drops into the rail and to the new reel mechanism with a cable. The other end of the belting is bolted to the floor with a captured bolt after the floor is reinforced. Sounds Rube Goldbergish, but it works just fine, and it's a whole lot more convenient to get in and out.
I don't regularly adjust the passenger seat Saf-T-Stop--I just leave it slightly back of where the crossbar used to be on the pilot seat.
