Cessna Fuel Bladder replacement, 180/182
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
[quote="flyer"]Thanks for all of the information. The bladder that I removed was the original and has a date of March 1959. It was over 61 years old.
Thats an oldie. I have one still in service since 1973, It weeps enough on the top when it's full to warrant a change out. I never see a drip, but I can smell the fumes after I land in turbulence. I was hoping to get through my 205 project first.
Question: Is anyone using any lube to facilitate the assembly of the strainers or vent tubes into the nipples? Floats and Fuel Cells advocates a little WD-40 for the purpose, however my Cessna Manual wants it done dry. I used some LPS-1 on my stubborn C-205 nipples recently figuring it was a superior PTFE to WD-40. I'm hoping they won't leak.

I usually use a bit of vaseline.

I cannot imagine trying to get those nipples on without some lubricant. I do not think it is possible. If you were strong enough you would probably end up bending the tubing. It was difficult even with wd-40.
