Re: Cessna fuel cells

The tip on aligning the gaskets for the fuel sender is particularly useful.

Not sure what that tip is but I bought two bolts at the local John Deere dealership. Cut the heads off, rounded the shank, made one a little longer than the other, and threaded into the bladder. What I found by accident was to use a metric thread bolt that just barely goes in finger tight but snug.

Re: Cessna fuel cells

I removed the brand-new looking and seemingly perfectly installed fuel-bay tape yesterday, MEK'ed and scrubbed the whole damn thing and probably lost lots of brain cells. After letting it air out for a few hours I began putting in new tape. I immediately wished I left that damn tape in there and called it a day (working between flights and after work). Today after flying all day I finished taping, installed the bladder, and fastened all the snaps. That took about 3 hours. I'm heading out of town tomorrow due to prior obligations (wedding anniversary, my wife doesn't think a weekend helping to install a fuel bladder is very romantic). The real fun will begin next week when I get back and get busy installing the fuel level sending unit and connecting the fuel lines and vent. I'm not so sure I want to be an A&P anymore, but my boss is really gung-ho for it. #-o
