Cessna Monarch Fuel Cap Screws?
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
On our 58' 180, the screws that hold the Monarch Caps on are getting a tiny bit rusted, and we figure we better replace them before there stuck for good, however I haven't been able to find hardly any information on how exactly these caps attach, what the screws go into, and overall how much of a pain in the ass it is to change the screws. Any and all information on this is greatly appreciated!

Replace with 1/4-28 stainless screws. Inner ring attached to the fuel bladder. Outer ring attached to the wing.
Get a 1/4-28 bolt about 3-4 inches long to help you get the bladder screws started.
It is an easy job. Be real careful removing old screws otherwise you will be drilling and removing them with an easy out.

http://apexbits.com/apex-phillips-head- ... -ribs.aspxBuy some serrated APEX Bits. I found the link above, but there are many choices. I'm sure the knowledge exists in this group to choose exactly which one is best. Use them in a high quality impact driver for the best effect. Use non serrated for reinstallation.
Cadmium plated steel screws are stronger than stainless, and will not cam out as easily. Just paint them to match. If the plating starts to thin in a decade or two, just change them again. If you're operating in the ocean then OK, use stainless.

If you replace the screws one at a time, you shouldn't need the bolt. You also won't have to re-seal between the bladder & the inner ring.
