Cessna secondary Seat Stop

Remember this kit Cessna was giving away free a few years ago? SEB07-5

On the reel installed in my airplane, AmSafe P/N 505590-403, the little plastic fitting that attaches the manual release cable has broken off. AmSafe won't repair it and instructed me to get a new assembly from Cessna, somewhere north of $600.

Anybody know of a source for replacement parts for this guy?

Frustrating...

Here’s a little photo of the offending item I purloined from a Cessna Flyer ArchivesImage

My son has a laser printer. Would a printed part be an owner supplied part?

Lack of simplicity is one of many reasons I passed on the inertia reel and bought two of these: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pspages/loree_05-22220.php

YMMV

It doesn’t answer your request Sam, but I like these a lot:

Re: Cessna secondary Seat Stop

You could try C&M Marine Aviation Services. That’s where we send other kinds of Amsafe inertia reels for repair, and they can replace most stuff.

Let me know if you can't get it fixed, chances are good that I may have a reel around from a wreck.

Re: Cessna secondary Seat Stop

The problem with those stops that go on a seat rail is they will inhibit egress if you are in a hurry, as in upside down in water. I suspect that's why Cessna developed the under seat reels....

Re: Cessna secondary Seat Stop

My 180K has the double pin setup for the seat rails which I like. I also think the lap seatbelt buckle would work fine with one half attached to the seat and the other to the floor. Whole lot siimpler than this reel deal.

Mine just broke last week in the exact same spot. I guess that little plastic part has only so many cycles in its life. I have not pulled it apart yet. If anyone finds a part source or repair let me know. Thanks.

A reel that won't release will inhibit egress just as bad or worse.
I like the cam-style seat locks that CAVU posted a link to, but they're kinda spendy.
I've got a pair of saf-t-stops, actually several of them-- besides seat stops,
I also use them for cargo rings on the front seat & BAS seat tracks.

I use this product both pilot and copilot seats. Worth every penny. Very easy to use and install. The big red handle is easy to lock and unlock.
