I just installed the SK185-27 (jackscrew inspection panel) in an A185F. I am sending Zzz the PDF of the install instructions if anyone is interested. Hopefully he can add it to the database. Nice mod and very useful.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Very nice! Thanks Bigrenna.
Do you have photos of the installation?
Is it just for inspection, or does this access point allow for complete removal of the jack screws without pulling the vertical and horizontal stabilizers?

You can remove the jackscrews, but you wouldn’t be able to rig them, at least using the service manual method, as it requires measuring 4.37” between a drill rod thru both actuators and the base of the stab up-block.

I think the '63 SM has a different procedure, done with the horizontal on.

You are correct! The 1963 to 1977 SM’s, and maybe later (I don’t have any later SM’s) does describe such a procedure. Pretty challenging from below only, I suspect.

You can rig through this panel fairly easily if you understand what the rigging guidance is trying to accomplish. Sometimes you need to read between the lines to figure out Cessna's end goal. In the case of rigging this trim system. you need to make sure that you are hitting the up (nose down) stop at with just a little (1-2 links) of chain travel left. If you've got that, the down (nose up) travel pretty much takes care of itself.

What I found difficult was getting the links threaded correctly on the left actuator sprocket and the correct links between the two actuators without turning the sprocket while trying to get the chain guard secured in place:

Just talked to them. Textron has two scheduled for production in September. "TWO" YGBSM! Can't find anyone who has one in stock.

I contacted Yingling aviation today and spoke with Rebecca. She said the wait time from Cessna is 12 months. I brought up the idea that if there were several people interested in having this part made they may assign a higher priority and give a better price and get it done faster. Maybe there are enough of us interested to consider this.
