Cleveland 8.50X6 Wheels and Brakes on late C-172
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?
According to the F. Atlee Dodge STC #SA02231AK for installing the Alaskan Bushwheel 3 bolt ABI-199-62 3 bolt 6.00 X 6 wheel and brake kit
the STC approval list shows the C-172L thru C-172Q models with tubular gear ...this kit would require a different or modified
brake torque plate to fit the #0541199-1 axle bolt pattern used on the tubular gear than the flat earlier gear leg axle.
Anyone have any knowledge of this installation or STC? Would like to know if that is addressed in the installation
instructions before buying the STC . Thanks for any help offered ....

Skypilot195, I used this STC for the installation of kit 199-62 on my 34 170B. I had a chance to review the installation instructions today (one page) and as I had remembered they just refer to the Cleveland installation instructions and instructions for continued airworthiness. There is no mention of your question nor are there specific instruction for installation on any model Cessna. My recommendation would be to call F.A. Dodge and ask them how to address the installation of the 199-62 kit on tube gear 172's. It would be helpful if you could post the answer for future reference.

Call F A Dodge and talk to Steve K. He can answer your question, I'll bet.

Did you get any information on the modifications needed to allow the wheel and brake kit to be installed?

AFAIK, there is no STC for the modified torque plate t be installed. But Airframes will sell them to you so you can install the double puck brakes.
