Re: Coffee at Pilots Pastures 1WA2

It's a long way to fly for a cup of coffee. Back when Chehalis had the cheapest fuel around, the trip might have made sense, but the price of avgas at Chehalis is now higher than at airports much closer to home at 0S9. The war in Iran is affecting a lot of my flying plans for 2026. It isn't just the gas prices that have gone up. My annual cost 50% more this year than last year and nothing special was done. Maybe it's time to move to a cave and cancel all my monthly subscriptions services. I could live on almost nothing if it weren't for monthly phone, internet, YouTube, magazine, TV service, insurance, electric and water bills and all the other costs that magically appear every month. It's downright scary how much my financial life has shifted from buying things to subscribing to things.

Curious how you attribute the increased cost of your annual to the war?

Parts I ordered had a transportation surcharge due to fuel prices, oil has gone way up and lubricant prices have gone up. Tire prices have inflated too (partially transportation of the finished item and partially transportation costs of raw materials to make the tire), and I needed new tires. Not all of the overhaul cost increases were the result of the war and the petroleum cost increases it has caused, but enough of them were I felt like whining about it. That is the only source of increased costs that was caused unnecessarily by a choice (as far as I know). If I find other costs were driven by unnecessary choices, I'll whine about them too. Satisfied? The topic of this thread is a cool coffee fly-in. I only intended to post that I wouldn't be there because of costs. Since my annual was just completed, those cost increases were on my mind too and I vented. Apologies to the OP for thread drift.
