Can anyone recommend a mountain flight school or specific instructor on the front range? There are plenty with ads, but hoping for a recommendation. Thanks.

Steve Purcell. He taught me how to fly, and he's the best instructor I've ever flown with. He has over 12,000 hours instructing, all of it in small aircraft. The number I have for him is 303-693-3872.

Dave Yonkin in Ft. Collins. Spent his whole career flying 185's for the DOW. He's in his 70's, and is incredible. He'll also spend all day hangar teaching for free. PM me and I'll give you his number.

Plus one for Mr. Yonkin. He is a very nice man, a methodical pilot, and a legend in the Colorado flying world. I haven't flown with the others, but from reading the previous posts, they are likely very qualified as well.

I'm not sure if you are still looking, but I did mine with Journeys Aviation in Boulder (KBDU) - my instructor was Earl Allen. I recommend him. I did the Colorado Pilots Association ground school -but Early can do the ground work as well.

My frequent instructor for both BFRs and IPCs, who does a lot of mountain instruction as well, is Jer Eberhard in Fort Collins. He's one of the best, in my book.
