Your video is excellent. Good job keeping that tail moving!

Keep us posted on your experiences. Hopefully we can link up in the Wrangell’s later this summer.

Thanks for the kind words Ted! And yes, I watched your Supercub.org video on the Wrangell's, that looks like an amazing place to fly. I have yet to headover that way, but definitely on the list for this summer.

Enjoyed this last Sunday by flying to the river with my girlfriend, got to bask in the sun a bit. Then we flew over to her parents house for a snack before heading back to Anchorage.

Gonna be an exciting summer for you, dude!

My only question is: how long can you keep your girlfriend with that mustache you've got going on? :P On the other hand, you must be doing something right if she can tolerate it.

I know! I've actually got June 2 - July 12th off of work, for vacay, so I'm going to be hitting it hard. As for your question, maybe I'll have her answer that in a near future video for you ;) Hehe. Alaska has grabbed ahold of me, the handle bar was an act of nature/adaptation, I guess so I have something to hold onto for this wild ride.

Thanks Utah! These are kinda fun to be apart of, definitely gives a reason to keep doing cool things out there too.

Yesterday we flew over to the Quartz Creek (JLA) gravel strip in Cooper Landing, Alaska with Rachael's parents. It was a short walk over to the Sunrise Inn for a quick lunch. We really enjoyed getting to hang out with family today. Flying through Turnagain Pass was also a lot of fun as well, it was a beautiful flight even though it was a cloudy day.

After the fun trip the day before, we decided to take the airplane over to my girlfriend's parents house for Easter dinner. I landed on the road there which was an exciting first for me.

Turbulent day out at the Knik yesterday. Came home early and almost witnessed a potential gear up landing.

I flew down to the Palmer Fairgrounds last weekend for the Great Alaska Aviation gathering, landing at the Fair Field a strip. My plane one first place in the duct tape masterpiece category Haha. Nothing like winning for ugliest airplane at show, but hey I’ll
take free prizes. =P We then camped at the Palmer Airport. The next day I took my dog, Yabo, for his first flight. He loved it! I can’t wait to take him flying again. Enjoy the video

Thanks for sharing!

As an 'outsider' who did the Alaska Airlines / rent a car version, cool to see how a local does the show.

Hoping to do the 'Bill Rusk' version from Sandpoint ID next year...

Had a blast flying in/out/around Valdez. Couldn't beat the weather! I had my first beach landing at Hook Point, can't wait for hopefully many more. I also stopped by Cordova Municipal (CKU), hands down the coolest airport strip I've been to. Enjoy the video of our Valdez adventures:

Re: CompSci Flys

I had a great time flying out and back with CompSci Flys. He did a great job and was very patient with me making him do Portage pass 3 times including a pass go around. On the way back we did the high loop and came in over Colony Glacier then Direct to Merrill field. We had met in the air on the way out. I think he was surprised to hear the guy that had been talking nonstop for three hours about how to fly in Alaska that he needed to talk me into the Dirt runway. He did a great job and once the tower heard my attempts at a proper towered radio call they realized they should talk slow and keep a eye on me. Everything went smooth as silk, because even a Valdez STOL champ can use help every now and then.
From my first day of flying I have had people holding my hand showing me what to do and not do. Even today people will still watch my landings and takeoff then gladly point out any thing I did wrong. This is how we keep our friends and family safe. If you want to keep pilots alive we all have to show the new ones the best way to get from point A to B and speak up when they are doing things wrong. No matter how many hours or letters after the name. I encourage everyone to take new pilots through every pass or tight spot you can thing of on a good day, show them the escape path/runway

Re: CompSci Flys

Been super busy lately, haven't been able to fly as much as I've wanted. I got engaged last week! I was able to do it on a sandbar with nobody around, but bald eagles and my airplane. I took the day off work this last Friday to do some much needed flying. I flew down through the mountains to Seward, walked into town for lunch. Then I went the coastal route down to Homer, refilled and then headed back to Anchorage. After it was all said and done, I ended up with 5.5 hours of beautiful flying. I saw some pretty sweet beaches that I explored about 20-30 minutes outside of Seward, I'll have to come back down in June to try some camping out there. I have a work trip to Vegas this week, coming back to AK on Monday. After that, I have 5 WEEKS OFF OF WORK, so I expect to be doing a lot of flying.

Congratulations!! That is the best way to do it. Don't give them a chance to say no unless they wanna swim... ;). Haha. That's how I proposed to my wife as well.

Re: CompSci Flys

I flew into the Village Strip in Talkeetna for the first time yesterday. Was a good experience, runway was much longer than what I was expecting based on other videos of people landing.

Re: CompSci Flys

Excelent!! The best part of that video is how you took the time and effort to push the plane well off the strip so everyone else could have a safe landing!! I also notice you have some new tires =D> How do you like them?
