Re: Content policy 2017: Backcountry flying only

Bumping this for the Tapatalk users who apparently don't see the numerous places this policy is referenced.

We're seeing a lot of irrelevant or barely relevant topics being posted. Please review the first post in this thread for the policy.

Cheekily applying the word "backcountry" to topic titles won't work, either. 8)

Thanks for following the rules.

Content policy 2017: Backcountry flying only

I don’t know Zzz, I mean those pilots in Turkey who decided turning a 737 90 degrees and going over the cliff, I think that qualifies for Backcountry doesn’t it? Of course they are going to need a REALLY big helicopter to get it out of there, or it could be turned into a gigantic water slide right where it is. [emoji51] Okay I guess it’s more off-airport then Backcountry, I’ll shut up now.

Oops. I realize now that I'm responsible for a transgression recently. It was inadvertent. Thanks for the refresher.

Any chance of a non-aviation subjects forum?
No politics, but sometimes somekne might want to ask about something other than aviation.
For example, "Im thinking about buying a new pickup.
Anyone have any experience with the new one-ton Behemoth dually crewcab?"

No. We're done with off-topic here.

There was a time in the early days when I felt it was good to have the off-topic outlet. It allowed people to connect on other levels besides aviation. But these days, with Facebook, we no longer need that. You can get your fill of the much of the web over there.

I don't make a policy like this because I want to control people. This place runs itself for the most part. But in recent years people have complained that it's not like it used to be. I've addressed this before, but I think it's an illusion, a type of relativity that occurs as we grow as pilots in terms of backcountry flying experience. But just to be safe, let's keep it on topic and only entertain the type of content that draws people here in the first place.

I'm locking this thread. If anyone has any thoughts on the matter of how to improve our community discussion quality, feel free to PM or email me.
Thanks.
