Chickenair - good luck and keep your head up.

I had a ex who sold my Ag-Wagon without consulting with me -

How in the world......................... :?
Did you get the Ag Wagon back?

No on ex or Ag-Wagon .Bought Ag -Wagon as a basket case -- same for ex. Both were useful at the time late 1979 but time marches on .Don't miss either one.

Re: Costa Rica?

I don't know much about Costa Rica but a few years ago it seemed like quite a few people from around here used to go winter over in Belize. I understand southern Baja used to be a good place to go also. Both places have/had lotsa other gringo ex-pats.
Nowadays I know one guy who owns a place in Panama, and another who owns a place in Dominican Republic. They both go mainly in the winter, and are both pretty pleased with their choices.
Seems like there are some pretty good places in the US to go to- reference the above post about Idaho. Warm southern states have some good wintering-over places. Are you dead-set for some reason (legal maybe) on going foreign?

Your Welcome!
I have no interest in living in any foreign country because I have traveled the world for the past 40 years and IMHO "there is no place like the USA!" but this site sure has a lot of info.
I can't imagine lasting more than a week after reading about the ant problem. "You can spend you entire life trying to kill them or get use to eating them." It also sounds like child begging is an annoyance along with the attitude that all Americans are pedophiles. However I am a believer in spending time in a place to get a first hand experience. Some places take me less than a week to realize it is not for me but to each his own.
Never mind them getting use to my cantankerous ways!

Update

I haven't really given anyone her any details about what happened, but HAVETo tell you guys what happened today.
On Monday I turned in our Marriage Dissolution paperwork. There was a paper that my wife didn't sign and they told me she had to sign it and turn it in. So I called her cell to tell her. She changed her number. The only way I knew to get ahold of her was one of the bars she works at. So I drove past the one in Fairbanks and her truck wasn't there. She was also not at the house where she is staying. So I checked the bar in Moose Creek. Not there. So later that evening, I went back to the Bar in Fairbanks and her truck was there. So I grabbed the paperwork and went in to give it to her. When I rounded the corner, I was standing 3 feet from her.........and him!!! Facing each other deep in conversation. Obvilious to everything around them. They never saw me. I walked back to my truck and got my camera and walked back to the same spot 3 feet from them and snapped a beautiful photo of the loving couple
I hung onto that photo all week. My intent was to have it if I needed it for the divorce.(I have abunch of other evidence also) But here is the interesting part. I am retired Military, the asshole is Active Duty and I started an OSI investigation. I took the pictures today to the investigators and told them I wanted a "No Contact" issued. They said a "No Contact" order has already been issued by his Commanding Officer on Friday.
I think his Goose is Cooked
Waiting till next week to see what happens. His CO is on leave till Monday.
You guys are lucky, this is the short version

Re: Costa Rica?

Meeeehhhh.....

Chickenman -

file your divorce papers, and do yourself the biggest favor you could, ever!
MOVE ON. If you have been replaced, your spot would have been taken by someone else, sooner or later, by a schmuck in uniform or by a schmuck dressed with a potato sack.
It takes two to cheat and fail - not only he is the crook, she is no better. We learn this stuff the hard way. I did.
A no contact order may help short term - long term it is wasted effort, time and life.
Focus on the Chicken! It's your life, and you've been given what...?... 85 maybe 90 years before someone blows the candle out.

Sorry man. I'd prefer the war on Ants, or even eating them, before I waste another minute of my life. Unless you really don;t have anything better to do...
Then, of course - make their time living hell and help them (indirectly) to face you together. In their minds it will only strengthen their case of being destined for each other.
Things who are built on lies and sand do not last. Unfaithful people do not suddenly turn faithful in their new "relationships". I think they stay pretty much the way they are, the next failure only lurking somewhere else.

Just my opinion, be it worth to you what it might. $0.02, maybe?

Good luck!

Re: Costa Rica?

Onward to Costa Rica...run don't walk! Leave the swine behind. When their top-secret tango gets boring, they begin to figure out they aren't soul mates afterall, sorrow sets in, and lil' juliet wants her previous life back. By then, Chickenair got it goin' on in Guanacoste, never to bothered by swine again  and life is better than before!

Re: Costa Rica?

I been there several times, and like it, and the people a lot. I think it is a great place. Don't know about making money down there, for me, I would try buying and selling real estate, or buying or renting a little ocean front bar/cantina.

Probably stay away from San Jose, been there a few times(Hotel Del Rey is a great spot  ) not too much there that I would want to hang around for.

Haven't done the east coast, but most of the west coast. It's all good, just some better depending on your tastes. I like the Nikoya penninsula/Samora myself. Nice spot, good stuff not too far away.

My ideal setup would be Idaho in the summer, Costa Rica in the winter, and Utah/Colo in the off seasons.

Re: Costa Rica?

You are all absolutely right. This was supposed to happen. Everything I found out including catching them for the photo just fell in my lap. All the timing was exactally right for everything. I think it is Karma.
I do good things for people all the time. I think you get paid back for that. Someone was helping me leave this girl, setting things up for me. Thank you god :D
All I have been doing since is making sure I cover my ass if it gets ugly in court. I have enough to feel confident she will get nothing but what I give her.
Depending on the outcome on 22 Nov, I could be in Costa Rica by the 25th or as late as April. Than it will be Via Con Dios to Alaska

Having never been in the military, please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly did this active duty guy do that is against regulations? Is it some sort of morals or conduct unbecoming violation to date a married woman? Sounds like you two are separated now-- does that make a difference?
Not trying to stick up for him, or them, just curious.

Re: Costa Rica?

First off, Chicken, sounds like you are on the right track for clearing out. good luck with it all and get it done and over with and clear outta dodge...

Hotrod- The military does not recognize civil "legally seperated" status of a marriage. You are either married or not, and it is against the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) to date, see, be "good friends", etc, with a married person, or if you are active duty and messing around on your spouse, all are considered adultery. Re: Costa Rica?

JP hit the nail on the head about the UCMJ. And we were not legally seperated, which doesn't even matter because we are still married. We were just apart and I was trying to be civil and maybe work things out. I really didn't want to throw away 10 years. But they could not stay apart. So I got her to sign the Dissolution paperwork and the best of luck to them. I want to shake his hand when this is over and thank him
And Ya'll are right, I am a warrior and I will win this battle and move on to the next challange. I have so many options right now I'm not sure which one to pursue??
I have another friend who has a Condo in St. Thomas and has offered for me to go there and stay.
Man, I could jet set all over the country and just be a Jimmy Buffet bum

Re: Costa Rica?

Just a little up date on whats happening with me.
I got rid of the Restraining Order yesterday. My lawyer made a deal with her. We dismissed the RO and replaced it with a Civil No Contact Order. This order doesn't effect you in any way as long as you don't violate it and I have no problem with that. But according to my attorney, she does. He told her I was not allowed to contact her and she is not allowed to contact me. Than he told her I was leaving for Costa Rica anyhow so she doesn't have to worry about contacting me much longer.....she started crying. Awww poor girl  I think she is missing me already. I also told my attorney that I will attend the dissolution hearing on the 22nd of November and if I get my dissolution great. If I don't well....thats fine to. I will be on a plane out of dodge the next day and she can figure out how to divorce me when I can't be found. And she can't crawl back to someone she can't find.
Either way, I'm still going. Probably get there mid-January.

Have fun!!! I've been in those shoes more than a few times, and several Alaska jobs (and others) have been the result of telling ex's to get hosed. Some of my darkest days have turned into the absolute best times of my life.

Re: Costa Rica?

Well guys here is the latest on my life. The guy who cause all this was shipped home by the USAF. To late in my opinion, but he is gone with a black mark on his record.
We went to court yesterday and I had enough time to prepare for the worst and she threw the worst out there.
I gave her a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, a Harley, a time share in Vegas (Trying to send her to Gump!) and $500.00 a month for 3 months. She told the Judge she wanted 1/2 my house and 1/2 my airplane.
The judge said, The house is pre-marital you can't have 1/2. Than asked me about the airplane. I told her it was sold and she said how much proceeds did you recieve and I told her none. It was sold for the balance of the loan. My wife said bullshit! I know he got more for it than that! The judge said If you 2 can't agree on this your not going to get your dissolution. I said, I don't care your honor, I have divorce paperwork filled out and will walk to the clerks office, file for divorce, hire an attorney and we'll battle it out in court. My wife said, Never mind, forget about the plane, I agree to everything I just want this over today!!! Yea!!
We got our dissolution!!
I will be flying into Bocas Del Toro on the 10th of Feb and meeting my friends there. They have a guy they want me to meet to see about the possibility of getting a Float Plane Charter service set up there!
How exciting is that! Depending what happens there, I may never make Costa Rica. My buddy said it is cheaper living there, more english is spoken and you can get a 6 month visa instead of the 3 month Costa Rica gives.

So it's Adios and Via Con dios to Alaska!!
