FWIW, on a Lycoming, this tach drive won't allow the use of a spin on filter adapter. I much prefer the pick ups off the mag switch. Less stuff to run through the firewall that way as well.

That UMA gives you a choice of mag pick-up or tach drive pick-up. Either way, it is the same # of wire going through the firewall, but way less of a bundle than the old tach cable.

Right, but with EI or horizon you dont have to go through the firewall. Just to the mag switch or key switch.

Isn't there going to be an hole where the "old" drive cable went through the firewall anyway that can be used !! No new hole required with any of these options as I see it

Holes are easy to fill. I like as little as possible going through there now a days. Those tachs do work good, theres one in a bushmaster in my hangar right now. But as I said, with the pickup in the old tach pickup location we are unable to put a spin on adapter on the new 0-375. I'll have to look into a new lead with the pickups on the mags and switch it out. Do you know if they will work with sure fly or pmags? The harnesses available are only for slick or bendix mags.

I'm assuming your referring or asking about the Indu tach and to the best of my knowledge they only currently work with the traditional Slick or Bendix magnetos. They do however offer a "Hall Effect" signal generator that uses mag impulse instead of the old tach drive so that might solve your clearance issue with the spin on oil filter however the wires do still run thru the firewall.
