I found this pic in YellowMaule's photo album and am wondering what the epitaph says. Anybody know?

I read the Don Sheldon bio "Wager with the Wind" last year and his story became one of my favorites. I was pretty bummed out when I learned he died of cancer at such a young age (54)

Edit: After staring at it I think it says "He wagered with the wind and won. His wife and children loved him"

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Zane: Been there, done that, you are correct. My girlfriend lives in town there and we walk by it quite often.

Good book, finished it in September.

Edit: as you can see there are very few inanimate man-made objects in rural Alaska that don't have bullet damage of some sort ](*,)

His former hangar on the village strip is now a community playhouse. His wife still lives in the area, met her at a community get together in October, real nice lady.

Excellent book! One of my favorites. Some of the things he did in an airplane are just plain amazing.

i agree, wager with the wind should be on every backcountry pilot's christmas list, if you don't already have it.

You shouldn't ever ask a question unless you're sure you want to hear the answer......

LOL! Don't think I have to worry too much.

Hey UP, we should hook up. I fly down to Talkeetna on most weekends, and tie down in transient parking. N3477C.
