Has anyone used these on there firewall penetrations? I emailed Doubletree to ask about certified use and obviously he has not jumped through the hoopes to get the approval but has several clients who have installed them on certificated aircraft. His opinion is that you can do this one of two ways: 1) If you AI sees this as a major modification then you can go the 337 route (we all know this is getting harder by the day), or 2) If you AI does not classify this as a major modification than you can do it with a logbook entry. I have spoken to my AI and he cannot see how these could be classified "major" as they don't affect flight characteristics, W&B, structure, etc. in any way and they are infinitely more effective than the POS rubber grommet / stainless steel shield that all our birds have currently.
Has anyone here used these and how did you (or your AP/AI) approach it?

I should note that he has made the steel version to meet the FAR requirements for heat and says if you do use them on certificated aircraft, you need to use the steel version.
