drift camera remote ???

I bought a Drift Stealth last Feb. Never got to use it much cuz I wrecked my plane. Got the Chubster and got it set up on there and my remote worked for a while, then quit workin. Bought another remote and still don't go to the recording mode, and yes, the camera is on. Now I figure it must be the camera. I did buy the insurance when I bought the camera, but I have to wait a few days before I can make the claim.

Has anyone else had any problems with their remote?
Thanks gary

Hey Gary,
My remote doesn't work further than about 6ft and takes several try's to get the camera to record.
Have to make sure I can see the light on the camera to know if its recording.

Re: drift camera remote ???

You can try pairing the remote to the camera again. It should be paired from the factory if it is the original remote. Also check to see if the remote function is active. There is a battery in the remote as well and it could be weak or dead.
Mine works through my door at the far end of my strut. And It has worked through my windscreen from at least 20 feet away.

Re: drift camera remote ???

Try giving 3 FIRM presses on the remote (start/stop) and wait a few seconds. Hopefully that works.

Re: drift camera remote ???

Gary, I would just go buy a new battery for the remote and give it a try..or test the old battery against the new one with a volt meter.

Re: drift camera remote ???

I ended up with two of these cams. And both have remotes that suck. Seemed to work better when they were brand new, but its not like they are old now. I've put new batteries in the remotes and they still suck. Frustrating cause I really like the cameras.

Re: drift camera remote ???

I haven't paid much attention to reviews on these. Hadn't seen anything bad. Mine was workin fine, then all of a sudden it quit. I guess if it fails again, I'll look for somethin else. I was just goin on Matts recomendation. Ya know how those Cessna guys are.

Glad it worked. Mine has been working fine for a couple of years. No real problems.
Not the best one out there but pretty darn nice for the money.
I'll take you up on those Margs. I hear yours are da bomb. \:D/

My remote has also been acting up. Was the re-pairing what did it?

Re: drift camera remote ???

I think so, not quite sure but that was what I was trying to do. The info is actually on page 21. But between messin with the remote selection (just above the pairing option)and the pairing, it started working, FM I guess. Changing the remote setting was the last thing I did and that made the difference.

Re: drift camera remote ???

I have 2 Drift Stealth and a total of 3 remotes for them. With fresh coin batteries in the remotes the start record function works up to about 10' but the stop record is very unreliable until you get just a few feet away, very frustrating. From the pilots seat of the big aluminum seaplanes I fly the remotes are mostly useless. I've been thinking of trying to attach an aerial of some sort to the the remote, I'll let you know how that works.

It looks like Drift Innovations has a new camera coming out, the Ghost

It's going to have a wifi control and app as well, this could be the ticket.
