We just had a CF18 struck by lightning a couple weeks ago not far from where I live. I bet that pilot stays a bit further away from storm clouds now...
Love the clouds that the smoke make though. Looks pretty powerful.

Nice shots! First student I ever soloed is flying for the Oregon National Guard. Wonder if one of them was him? :D

Not if they wanted to used the compressor or turbine sections of the engines again... that fine ash destroys them in minutes or seconds.

That fire has been a complete and total bitch.... Winds pick up real bad over there in the afternoons and evenings.... It doubled in size three nights in a row...

I have friends up there on a private strip, his cub is sitting at my place now.... Fire came through and took out is water system but left his house and hanger so he got lucky... His neighbors to the south lost everything...

Cool pics of the F-15s though..
