Depends on what youre talking about. For example, some ADS/B solutions replace your old transponder. Others, like garmins GDL82, incorporate it. Thats probably the route ill go. And if so, ill probably be able to snap up a couple cheap, still-good legacy Narco AT150s as spares for my existing one.[/quote][/quote]

Mk 12D nave com is a great unit. They work fantastic tell they don't. I would never take one out tell it crapped out. But would never put one in no matter how well it checked out

I don't know that I'd agree.
The Com 810 and AT150 in my C180 were installed in 1992, and are still going strong.
No trouble noted in the logbooks, and the only thing I've had to do was to replace the display in the 810 last January-- an easy fix.
I'd call that a pretty good track record.

Narco's customer service, or lack thereof (even to avionics shops), was legendary,
but the units themselves are / were quality stuff.
The bummer is that now that Narco is out of business, their products are totally unsupported.
But some parts (like that display) are available if you know where to look.
