Field Approval for a Surefly SIM with a FWF Battery

Does anyone have a field approval to put a Surefly SIM on their engine with a firewall forward (15ah) battery? Specifically if you have a 180/182 with a O-470-50, but anything would help. Thanks!

I would guess surefly is currently working on it as an addition to their current STC, so you would not have a hope of a field approval.

Re: Field Approval for a Surefly SIM with a FWF Battery

I gave them a call and had a long conversation with one of their techs. They suggested I try to get a field approval to install their sim because the stc requires a 20ah battery, and all fwf batteries are 15ah. They informed me that one of their customers had already done that but they didn’t know who specifically.

I attempted to get one, but was denied by the FAA because the amp hour requirement is a note on the stc. I wanted to see if someone had a field approval that I could present as data to the feds.
