To kinds of pilots. Those who have bent one and those who are going to bend one.

I do believe Mr. Roush may be wise to hire a good pilot. The one he was using seems to be ah, um, how do you say it nicely..............lacking the needed skills.

It's not like he was at Mile Hi or Dewey Moore

I heard that he was cut off by a Citibra who took off in front of him.

Re: First crash of 2010 Airventure

hire a good pilot

From listening to the report it sounds like he was doing his own piloting. "He and his secretary were on board..."

I think "hire a good pilot" still applies.

At the end of the video they talk about him balling one up in 2002 also. I also agree it's time to hire a good pilot and sit in the back with martini's and the secretary.

Re: First crash of 2010 Airventure

We were across the runway and a few guys in our group were watching when it happened. No one mentioned seeing a Citabria, but what they did see was his nose pitch up and the wings started rocking, followed by a pancake into the ground. Why he stalled is anyone's guess.

Shit.... I still remember making one of my worst landings ever in front of a big crowd at Oshkosh... Kinda wanted to go hide out a while... Feel bad for the guy...

Re: First crash of 2010 Airventure

Love how things get reported. A jet owned by NASCAR team owner Jack Roush made a hard landing Tuesday night at EAA Airventure.
What is the difference between a Hard Landing and a Crash Landing?

Who said they are no good for backcountry. Know a guy that did a touch and go in a Citation at Johnson Creek. He might be on this forum.

Hmmm. Imagine how many nice flying backcountry airplanes could be built from the scraps...

A: Take a look at the empannage on that hot momma
B: Perhaps his family thought it would be safer to take the bus...

Re: First crash of 2010 Airventure

I am told that Jack Roush has balled up FOUR airplanes in the last several years.

Isn't this the time for what the FAA calls a "709 ride" ?

Re: First crash of 2010 Airventure

That should buff right out.

Also, no need for a "prop strike" engine tear down.

I once flew up to Canada in an older friend's CJ1. He was good with the glass but stick and rudder skills less so. Fortuantely, the autopilot still worked. Scary when split second decisions were needeed. I made a mental note that I wouldn't be going in that plane again.

Dunno about her "empenage" in that picture she looks as if she's puking right smack into Space Mans glitter- suit.
