Looks awesome, Larry! Great first for any airplane, let alone a 182.

Re: First off airport landing

This is in Pavones, the best surf spot in Costa Rica.
I would love to fly there and go surfing, but in reality we are not allowed any off airport landings in Costa Rica [-X

So I just did it for fun, and left ASAP.

Re: First off airport landing

Very nice landing. You got down low and didn't have to worry about getting rid of a lot of gravity thrust of altitude. Without obstructions, you might try some rudder turns in low ground effect. Keep the wing level with aileron and push the nose where you want it with rudder. I always worry about putting the wing into something down low. Ground effect will make up for the loss of lift in the skid. Practice in a big field or on a long runway. Works really well on takeoff or landing where the departure or approach lane is somewhat crooked. Up to 15 degrees of turn is comfortable.

Yeah, I heard that little sputter in the engine and agree that it was probably best to set down and verify fuel flow was correct before continuing flight.
