Flying to Mexico

I'm going to Mexico in a few weeks and am planning the flight and thinking about making another video. Thought it would be fun to make it a bit more "interactive" (in a loose sense of the word).

My flight will take place over a few days (or perhaps even a week, depending on work obligations) with a start in Chicago, the flight finishing in Guanajuato and my final destination being San Miguel de Allende.

What questions would you guys like to see answered in the video? While it will be a journey in an airplane, I'd be happy to talk about non-aviation things as well if people have questions.

On a related note: Are there BCPers between Chicago and Laredo, TX that would welcome a visitor? Might be kind of fun to stop along the way, interview some of you and do some flying together.

Re: Flying to Mexico

I like to see a video detailing the whole process. Paperwork, flight plans, insurance, customs, necessary paperwork, bribes, etc. And then some local color while you're there. I know that tons is probably already written about the whole process but I'd rather watch a video. :)

Re: Flying to Mexico

I'm planning to go down to the Baja and when I went last time in a C185 amphib it was made very clear that off airport water landings were forbidden. I got special permission for a specific spot (where I didn't land because of wind) and I think it triggered a polite but thorough 3 hour drug search at destination. Do you know if the same restriction is there for beach landings in the Baja?

thanks

Re: Flying to Mexico

Yes....give us a video of the process with some narration of the details.
I'm headed down to Zihuatanejo in Feb.
If you will be nearby then lets get together.
Have a good trip.

Getting together would be fun. We're less than two hours from Zihua (as the Maule flies, more like six hours by car). I'm going to get to San Miguel sometime after 12-Jan and the idea of a beach weekend in Feb has some appeal. :-)

Do you know when you'll be there?

Re: Flying to Mexico

I have probably a dozen or so requests at this point. Just bumping the thread here in case any weekend BCPers want to jump in.

Feel free to drop into OK18 (Grande Isle Airport, NE, Oklahoma) on your way down, we have a hanger apartment you can stay overnight in. We took the 182 down to Cabo San Lucas last November and had a blast, Loreto was our favorite place.

Yeah, I've heard good things as well. I haven't been, yet, but will probably get over there at some point this winter.
