Franklin Aircraft Engines, INC

Has anyone had any luck contacting Franklin Aircraft Engines in Fort Collins? Their website says the whole company is for sale. The phone is disconnected and no answer to emails. I might be getting a Franklin 220 for my 170 off of another plane. But if I can't get the STC for it then it won't work out.

I can't speak to the company status, but I know two guys with 220 170Bs. One has multiple wins at Valdez. 8)

Give Susan Prall a call. She will point you in the right direction for sure. She will be your source for parts as well. 903-626-5115. Hope this helps. The Franklin is sweet.

Try franklinaerospace.us as well. I spoke with them last year when I was trying to close a deal on a Stinson 108. It would be nice if Franklin could become a major player in the market again for competition / consumers sake but it seems like everyone that tries to make that happen just goes broke in the process.

Not sure if this info will be of any help to you, but you might want to look into Souther Aero. They are located in Thomasville, NC. Looking at their web site it looks like they bought out C. G. Lucas that was located in Ok.

I saw that they have an STC listed for a Franklin in a 170 but it's for the 180hp version and not the 220hp. Not sure if they would be any help.

Re: Franklin Aircraft Engines, INC

Does anyone know who actually owns the Franklin TC now? I was told by someone that Walter owned it at one point. Walter was bought by General Electric, and I sure can't imagine GE wanting anything to do with aircraft piston engines......

Just curious....not going to convert my Cub...
