Garmin 430 internal battery replacement
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
The internal battery in my Garmin 430 died.
Has anyone had to replace theirs and did you send the whole unit to Garmin?
I heard Garmin charges upwards of $800 to do it!

I was hoping not to have to send it in anywhere.

I had mine replaced a Western Avionics in Spokane WA, about 2 years ago. I think it was around $250 total.

I did mine two years ago when it was in for annual (next door to the avionics shop), think it was in the same ball park price as Skywagonfloater, nothing like $800, I would have remembered that.

the battery is a fairly common lithium backup battery Sanyo CR15250sSE-FT, it's available on line from amazon or many other sources for $10-15.00. as for replacing it, here is a link to Van's air force forum that has instructions, read what they say and decide if you want to try it yourself.
http://www.vansairforce.com/community/s ... hp?t=89709it doesn't sound to complicated, but I work in a radio shop.
