My GARMIN Pilot app for iPad expires on JUN-17.

I don’t have automatic renewal, so I login to GARMIN.com. But, there is no place to renew Pilot App?

GARMIN support wait time is over one hour right now.

Anybody a GARMIN Pilot guru that can help?

From within Garmin pilot, try…settings, subscriptions, manage subscriptions. It should take you to flygarmin website (fg.garmin.com).

Thank you folks for replying. I have logged in many several times.

The only result is: subscription is not eligible for auto-renewal . The shopping cart is forcing me to purchase a new subscription with a new expiration date, which would have an overlap on dates (paying for two subscriptions until the first subscription expires).

I am having the exact same problem. I keep getting emails to renew, but it shows that renewal is not available. I tried to call Garmin, but can't wait forever on the phone. Just ended up buying the new subscription since I need it weekly, and may need to switch to ForeFlight in the future if this keeps up.

Sounds about right for Garmin. I’m very happy with ForeFlight.

…Not a soft development issue, just bad administration and marketing. The software seems ok.

Have you guys actually seen renewal pricing that’s better than the new subscription? Or is this just a convenience thing?

I don’t think I would switch to Foreflight over this issue if you like the general Garmin Pilot app user experience. Somebody probably flubbed the auto-renewal eligibility conditions and it takes 6 months of internal emailing to understand the problem.

Just set a calendar appointment for your expiration date and buy a new one at that time, then move on to the next problem.

I’d just switch to foreflight

I use it for my logs, documents, etc etc, it’s very feature rich the further you dig into it, like comparing MS paint to photoshop

There’s a reason virtually everyone using these programs for work ether uses foreflight or jepppro (which is the same company and I’d wager will soon become one program)

If you’re a CFI and in NAFI they also offer a pretty good discount

I used both apps for a while. “Foreflight” was/is definitely the leader in the industry. And was the pioneer, in my opinion. But, I chose GARMIN, when I was downsizing my flight deck. For seaplanes, GARMIN Navionics is fantastic.

I’m in Hawaii right now with an expired “Pilot” app. For the time being, I say “F” all this mainland crap, I am going surfing.

I’ve run garmin/honeywell/etc, lots of floatplane ops, foreflight plays well, specialty with the map overlays and custom layers for maritime…time

I ultimately purchased another year of GARMIN Pilot today (with auto renewal this time). Decided to make the best of it.

Reason:

1) It’s been my primary aviation planning app for several years and I don’t want to relearn ForeFlight.

2) GARMIN Pilot interfaces with the plethora of GARMIN hardware.

3) GARMIN marine is located in Oregon and they purchased a Beneteau sailboat similar to mine (same broker) as a test platform. I can walk down to the marina and talk with the marine technicians.

4) Personally have flown, sailed, driven thousands of hours with GARMIN products with few complaints.

I’m planning a flight to Washington state! Totally stoked…
