I'd be curious if they've done anything to reduce jello (hard to do since they use the same CMOS sensor technology as everyone else).

Also worth noting: The current gopro also has GPS, so that's not a differentiator anymore.

The Sony Action Cam also has GPS. I have one you can try out on your plane if you'd like. They make a 4K one, but mine is not.

Sony lacks in the way of mounting options though, that is why I have not consider it.

I just bought one, but haven't done much with it yet.....retirement is busy as hell.

The thing I really despise about this camera is the same mount as the GoPro....which sucks for airplanes, particularly fabric covered ones. There's no way I've found to mount the camera on a short mount, and This really contributes to the jello effect. A really solid mount really helps reduce that. I was able to eliminate the jello effect on a GoPro by slowing the frame rate. I presume you can do the same with this camera.

Unfortunately, the only owners manual available is online.....

Slowing the frame rate has the unfortunate side effect of substantially reducing the sharpness. The only "real" cure for jello is a solid mount, as you point out.

You're absolutely correct of course. The good news is that Youtube and most of what we do with these videos (at least us mere mortal retirees do) really doesn't require that very high resolution.

I just wish that someone would come up with a better mounting system for these things.

Can we revive this thread? And add to it. "We know about GoPro, but what other good options are there for an strut or cockpit mounted action camera?"

My Hero 3+ Black evidently did not like the vibrations at the strut and the WiFi circuitry went Tango Uniform.

Tom, my Gopro 5 so far has been reliable (knock on wood) it works in the wing strut and vibration is not too bad, here is an example.
This was last week before meeting you at Roche Harbor.
