Re: Gentlemen, You have a race...

Even though I can only fit one wing-stock in at a time .....I have a pretty nice little tin box home on the field at KRTS..... Reno-Tahoe-Stead, home of the Reno Air Races. It's inside the race pit area....so access to all the action. If any of you are planning on being around for the event, you're welcome to stop in or hang-out at my shack. There's pretty much always food and drink......if you're lucky, might be girls!!??

Re: Gentlemen, You have a race...

I'll be there.
If Jimmy missed me by 50' in 2011, odds are I will be safer there than anywhere!
For sure I will visit at NVFlyers in the pit.
Pre 2011 there was an annual informal gathering of flyers on Thursday PM at the Santa Fe Basque Restaurant in Reno. Maybe we can start a BCP tradition.
There are several options for transportation to and from Reno. If there is interest, there maybe private strips nearby as well.

Hey Dave!
Looking like I will be out there. Probably flying in. Is this an invite for BCP'ers? Whats it like to get access to the hangers to 'hang' out?

Looking forward to it.

Re: Gentlemen, You have a race...

Hoping to make it to Reno this year as well with a couple of friends in my local area. Crap maybe the Reno air race committee can break up the races into 2 or 3 weekends so we don't have too many people at the fly-in. Plus, that's a lot of P-51's bagging Stead in one week.

Tom Weiss perished in a mid-air collision October 12, 2014. He was an enthusiastic and beloved contributor here for close to 10 years, and he will be missed greatly.

I might try to catch this one, since who knows if I'll ever be this close to it again...plus, it would be hard to pass up drinking some Red Bull

I'm in for sure! Got my room at the Atlantis Casino, tickets to the Chairmans tent, Pit Pass. I'll be flying the Maule down Wednesday. If the wx really sucks I'll ground pound it. 4 hr to fly vs 10+ drive Pray for good wx. ha ha

We should try to make a time to meet at Daves hangar to socialize. What do you think Dave?

Tom W. You coming??
JLB you flying the Maule ?

I have been there back in 07 good place. Was owned by a friend of John Morealli [JMGT] who left BCP for personal reasons. I wonder if the same fella owns it?

I'm up for what ever as long as drinking, eating, BSing or flying is involved. :D

Tahoe is there every weekend. Reno is only once a year.

Scott: come with me to the race. Your plane or mine. I got a room with 2 queen beds at the Atlantis Casino. I got a car too. There may not be to many more years of this event.

Re: Gentlemen, You have a race...

Have been going to the races every year for the past 15 or so. I would not miss it if your in the hood...

Nvflyers (Purplehaze is his other name) hanger is great! We also have a hanger on the west end of the ramp (far end of the pits) that we BBQ and have frosty treats in. All are welcome!

For those flying, Truckee is a great spot to park your plane. Same distance as any of the outlying airports. It may even be easier and quicker to drive to Reno from Truckee. If anyone wants to do some flying around that time, my plane will be up and running and the circuits need some serious tire tracks laid down.

Would be fun to have a BCP crew at the races. The pits are where its at. Get a pit pass and hang out there all day.
