Nvflyers (Purplehaze is his other name) hanger is great! We also have a hanger on the west end of the ramp (far end of the pits) that we BBQ and have frosty treats in. All are welcome!

For those flying, Truckee is a great spot to park your plane. Same distance as any of the outlying airports. It may even be easier and quicker to drive to Reno from Truckee. If anyone wants to do some flying around that time, my plane will be up and running and the circuits need some serious tire tracks laid down.

Would be fun to have a BCP crew at the races. The pits are where its at. Get a pit pass and hang out there all day.

I will be arriving Wednesday night by RV2, landing in the Optimist Lot, just south of the VIP area. Have passes for Sept 13, 14, then off to Yosemite. 19Echo is looking.

I always stay in Truckee for the races. Takes about 45 min to get to Stead. Watch out for the Nevada fuzz as you go down the hill in to Reno, they seem to always be there race week.

One of the cooler shows at the races. I hope he has healed up and is back in action.

You guys that have done this a lot. Should I drive my rental car to Stead or take a shuttle from town. I have only been once before and used the shuttle, which seemed ok. I did like being dropped at the main entrance.

Thanks...Rob

Re: Gentlemen, You have a race...

So, there I was...at the Watsonville Fly-In/Airshow yesterday and the announcer says something about the Reno Air Races next week. My beautiful wife turns to me and says, "That would be fun. I'm surprised you haven't mentioned them. You should go..." After I picked my jaw up off of the tarmac, I replied, "Well actually..."

Last day of class is Tuesday so I could be up in Truckee that afternoon/evening, but would have to return home on Thursday (camping in Yosemite that weekend).

Is it worth the trip? Anybody heading to the races from Truckee on Weds/Thurs who'd be able to give me a lift or split a rental car?

Boy Scout parking is $15 and pretty easy, close to main gate. Thats what I do anyhow. If you are staying at the Atlantis the shuttle seems pretty easy. $15 a day can add up quickly. Thats T-shirt money...

Jeremy- You can spend the night at my place if you want and we can drive. I like going Wednesday morning for most of the day. I generally dont get to the races until around 10-1030 as nothing is really happening until around noon it seems each day. I do go real early one morning for the photos in early light. Getting a pit pass each day is a must. The static displays are real nice and all but its a fairly quick walk around. Seems like most of the static displays are at every airshow you attend. The Vintage display is also very cool but again, its around 30 planes or so (give or take) and that goes fairly quick as well. I can spend the entire day in the pits and never get board. Lots and lots to look at and watch. People wrenching and pulling engines less than 5 feet in front of you. I also stock up on my new t-shirts at the races each year.

We should maybe plan on doing some flying in these parts as well one day. See how we all feel.

Re: Gentlemen, You have a race...

I'll be to Carson Wednesday 11AM. Pickup rental car and I'm free. Hangar flying, diner, lunch, cocktails?? We can drive to Truckee if adult beverages are involved. I always like to see local special places. I'm no good for tough strips. Still in the right seat with a bum shoulder.

Any chance to move this gathering of buzzards to Wednesday? Jeremy has to leave thursday afternoon.

Doing the races early Wednesday morning with him and whoever else and could easily make this happen that eve. Just a thought.

Dlhanst...you around now? He has a really great hanger in Carson with all sorts of activies and refreshments on tap and behind a few corks.... :D

If folks feel like coming up to Truckee I would host a BBQ at my house. Just got 20 acres and you could see the vision for the runway... #-o

Lets keep this thread live until we have sure plan.

Looking forward to seeing everyone
